Two Colorado Mad Moms will share their lived experience to highlight how gaps in Colorado’s behavioral health system leave families functioning as de facto treatment providers for loved ones with psychotic spectrum disorders. Family homes become “ghost asylums,” filling the void left by systemic failures in access to care.

Amos Adler is the co-founder and CEO of A4i, the App4Independence, a validated digital mental health mobile platform designed to support people living with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia and psychosis-related conditions. I met Amos through Nicole. He is seeking caregiver feedback on what we would like to see in an app that assists our loved ones.

MEDICAID WORK REQUIREMENTS
The Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) held a webinar covering federal changes to Medicaid on June 2nd. H.R. 1, formerly known as the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," created work requirements, also known as community engagement. Some members of Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) will be required to report new information regarding their work, school or volunteer activities to maintain coverage. HCPF is developing new processes for these changes and is tracking the impact of emerging federal guidance.
