Past Events

CO Mad Moms held our first Legislator Learning Event in September. The goal was to increase knowledge about the Competency to Proceed process. This is a very complex legal, medical, and human endeavor with lots of moving, or not so well moving, parts. We focused on legislators and their staff because they must make decisions in the 2026 session about Competency to Proceed legislation. It’s important that they understand the system. Those in attendance also included important stakeholders from various agencies, as well as caregivers and CO Mad Moms coalition members.

Thank you.
Grassroot coalitions form out of need or passion or both. This group of moms and dads (and five more viz Zoom) gathered on May 17 th for a day of connection, nurturance, laughter, tears, and learning. Margie DuBois of The Thirlby Company led us through thoughtful activities to explore our values, discover our superpowers, and identify our working styles. We thought about who we are, where we are going, and how to structure our coalition moving forward. It was a wonderful day of building relationships with each other and celebrating our achievements over the last nine months. Thank you to all who attended for stepping up for everyone with chronic brain illnesses.
